The Calgary Herald just published a profile on Luana Garden Villas and two of our newest homeowners, Bruce and Leslie Hoeschen.
The Vancouver-based couple, who got engaged on their first Maui holiday 23 years ago and now have three adult children, have returned to the island many times over the years.
After finding it increasingly difficult to procure rental accommodations that could house the Hoeschens, their three children, and the grandparents, the couple decided to purchase a home at Luana Garden Villas. While they weren’t in the market for a Maui vacation home, Luana’s “low density, generous three-bedroom floor plans, Ka’anapali beachfront locale within Honua Kai Resort and Spa, and the lack of rental restrictions” spurred them to take advantage of the rare opportunity to purchase a home of this type on West Maui.
“What really appealed to me was the fact that Maui is busy all year round. So I could have it rented out all of the time, but still be able to use it for Christmas and the month of January. The home will essentially carry itself and we won’t have the annual hassle of running around trying to find a place to rent for Christmas,” says Bruce.
The ability to rent these stunning vacation homes remains a top selling point. “When they are not here, the home can be generating revenue,” says Jason Schlackl, principal at PowerPlay Destination Properties, the sales and marketing company behind Luana. “There is maximum flexibility – you can live here full time, you can rent it nightly, or you can simply use it as a second home and not rent it at all.”
Luana Garden Villas’ impressive amenities were another draw for the Canadian couple, as was its stunning interior design, with features like a retractable window wall opening each Villa’s living space onto a 500 SF lanai with full open-air kitchen.
Beach access, of course, remains one of the most compelling reasons to purchase a home at Luana. Luana Garden Villas are nestled in a garden enclave just 200 steps from Ka’anapali Beach, “a mile-long stretch of golden sand with warm, gentle waters perfect for snorkelling” that was recently voted World’s Best Beach by TripAdvisor. For the Hoeschens, leaving the Canadian winter for sun and sand is what they’re most looking forward to when they take possession in spring 2019:
“It’s so nice to get away from the pouring rain in Vancouver, to get some sunshine. The ocean, the vegetation, the heat – it all adds up to a place that we love.”
